Yemen: EU Reproductive Health Programme Phase II Kicks-Off
The official launch of the second phase of the EU-funded Reproductive Health and Population Programme (RHPP) took place in Sana’a earlier this month.
Overseen by the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Qasem AL-Ansi, the kick-off ceremonies included EU Attaché Social and Health, Dr. Sarah Bernhardt, Government and MoPHP officials, local health facilities and services personnel and key representatives from WHO, UNFPA, USAID, Unicef, GIZ, KFW and other NGO’s.
The overall objective of the RHPP programme is to contribute to outcome improvements in Maternal and Child Health with a specific objective to build capacity in three target governorates including:
• Improved service delivery outcomes with increased quality of services and coverage (access and utilization) of key MCH/FP service interventions.
• Improving governance in health — i.e. supporting stewardship role, decentralized management, community participation and planning/budgeting support.
